Alex Catalogue of Electronic
Texts: A collection of public domain documents from American and
English literature as well as Western philosophy. Search the digital
collection by title or keyword to locate the literary work in full
text. The complete texts of all the items in the Alex Catalogue
are available by download only. This search engine functions as a concordance
to the electronic books retrieveable from this website. Moreover, you
can search the content of multiple documents simultaneously. For example,
you can first locate all the documents in the collection authored by
Mark Twain. Next, you can search selected documents for something like
slav* (which includes slave, slaves, slavery, etc.) to draw out themes
across texts. This site is maintained by Librarian, Eric Morgan of
Infomotions, Inc.
Bartleby: Great Books Online: Access to free full-text reference books including the Columbia Encyclopedia, American Heritage Dictionary, Gray's Anatomy and Elements of Style. Also includes full-text poetry anthologies; out-of-print fiction and non-fiction titles.
Bibliomania: A free online source for Literature with hundreds of searchable full-text classics. Major works in American Literature are listed chronologically. In addition, this database provides major full-text Reference works.

English Server:This Database Server offers nearly 50 topical websites plus Online Book Collections available in full-text and free-of-charge. Collection topics range from Literature and History to Science and Technology. Hosted at the Iowa State University.
Episteme Links: This site's database has some 19,000 links to philosophy-related resources online, and is widely used by philosophy professors and students at all levels, as well as those in the broader philosophical community. There is no charge to use the site, nor does it require user registration of any kind. Designed and maintained by book editor and author Thomas Ryan Stone.
Feedbooks: A cloud publishing and distribution service connected to a large ecosystem of reading systems and social networks, Feedbooks distributes millions of books to an increasingly growing community of readers every month. Available are thousands of public domain books and original books from new authors that are readable on any mobile device. Feedbooks S.A.S. was founded in June 2007 by Hadrien Gardeur, Loïc Roussel and David Julien.

Gutenberg Project: This online collection of free books are searchable by author or title can be read in full-text online. Most of the books available are in the public domain in the United States and are therefore free of copyright restrictions.
Gutenberg Project, Australia: This site, like Project Gutenberg, generally takes titles in the public domain and puts them on the Web in plain text and HTML format. All the major sections in this project relate to free e-books by Australian writers or about Australia.

Hathi Trust Digital Library: " This library is a digital preservation repository and highly functional access platform. Knowledgerush: Book Directory: A worldwide selection of online literary works from classic out-of-copyright books listed by title or author and searchable through Google.
IDRC Books Online: IDRC Books is the publishing arm of Canada's International Development Research Centre. Many of the online books are free in full-text; other in-print books are available for purchase. The title selection of IRDC is supported research on global and regional issues related to sustainable and equitable development.
Internet Archive: Text Archive: "The Open-Access Text Archive, offers permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format, includes texts, audio, moving images, and software." This archive serves as an index to sub-collections on the internet available in e-format: American, Canadian, and Children's libraries, and selected research institutions.
Knowledge Files: This website is "dedicated to the retrieval, archiving and distribution of rare, forgotten or classic documents covering a wide range of topics such as: western occultism, hermetic sciences, world religions, ancient civilization, occult symbolism, secret societies and esoteric studies." All of the works on this site are either of public domain, pending copyright renewal or available with the author’s consent and can be downloaded free of charge and new E-books are added on a regular basis.
IPL - Online Texts: The Internet Public Library has a major selection of links to free online ebooks on the subject of Arts & Humanities.
Literary Gothic: "The Literary Gothic is a Web guide to all things concerned with literary Gothicism, which includes ghost stories, "classic" Gothic novels and Gothic fiction (1764-1820), and related pre- and post-Gothic and supernaturalist literature written prior to the mid-C20. Its target audience is all students and fans of the Gothic, regardless of age, academic level, profession, or just about anything else."
MANYBOOKS.net: MANYBOOKS.NET offers an online library of FREE ebooks. Many of the etexts are from the November, 2003 Project Gutenberg DVD, which contains the entire Project Gutenberg archives except for the Human Genome Project and audio eBooks, due to size limitations, and the Project Gutenberg of Australia eBooks, due to copyright. As of July 2004 most current PG texts are available here, usuallly within the week of release.

New Zealand Electronic Text Centre: Provided by the Victoria University of Wellington, this website provides open access to New Zealand and Pacific Island documentary heritage. Search and browse the collection using the sidebar on the right. The standards-based collection is delivered through an Open Source framework and offers full and free access to a range of materials in multiple formats for download or online browsing. Today the NZETC collection contains over 2,600 texts.
Online Books Page: This is one of the largest websites for free full-text books online. The University of Pennsylvania Library freely provides over 35,000 electronic books available by author, title, subject, or foreign language.
Online Texts Collection: The Internet Public Library Online Texts Collection contains over 20,000 full-text titles that can be browsed by author, title, or by the Dewey Decimal Classification. The text is available for online viewing.
Open eBook: "The Open eBook Forum (OeBF) is an international trade and standards organization. Their members consist of hardware and software companies, publishers, authors, users of electronic books, and related organizations whose common goals are to establish specifications and standards for electronic publishing. The Forums work will foster the development of applications and products that will benefit creators of content, makers of reading systems and, most importantly, consumers."
Open Book Project: "A project aimed at the educational community and seeks to encourage and coordinate collaboration among students and teachers for the development of high quality, freely distributable textbooks and educational materials on a wide range of topics."
Open Library: This project now has well over 20 million edition records online, providing access to 1.7 million scanned versions of books, and linked to external sources like WorldCat and Amazon where possible. Open Library is a project of the non-profit Internet Archive, and has been funded in part by a grant from the California State Library and the Kahle/Austin Foundation.
Scholarly Electronic Publishing Bibliography: "SEPB presents selected English-language articles, books, and other printed and electronic sources that are useful in understanding scholarly electronic publishing efforts on the Internet. Most sources have been published between 1990 and the present; however, a limited number of key sources published prior to 1990 are also included. Where possible, links are provided to sources that are freely available on the Internet."
Universal Digital Library: Carnegie Mellon University has digitally preserved literary, artistic, and scientific works, and has made them available without charge in ebook format.
