    Anatomy and Physiology Interactives: The North Harris campus of Lone Star College has provided this amazing list of links to animations, movies and interactive tutorials covering Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Chemistry.

     

    Anatomy and Physiology Web Sites: "This site for students in Anatomy and Physiology classes at Tomball College, includes a list of helpful links to active Internet sites where students can find additional information to help them understand terminology and processes in the biological sciences."

     

    BioMed Central: BioMed Central is an open access publisher of online journals. "This database covers over 100 Open Access Journals covering all areas of Biology and Medicine."

     

    Body Mass Index: The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has provided information on Body Mass Index. The site includes a BMI calculator for adults, teens, and children.

     

    Human Anatomy and Physiology Web Sites: Professor Paul Wissmann at the Life Sciences Department of Santa Monica College has created multiple links to human histology, human biochemistry, the muscular system, and the skeletal system. He has also included an anatomy laboratory manual.

     

    Global Demography of Aging: "The Program on the Global Demography of Aging (PGDA), led by David E. Bloom, chair of the Department of Population and International Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, carries out research on important themes related to global aging and health, with an emphasis on issues in the developing world."

     

    National Center for Biotechnology Information: "Established in 1988 as a national resource for molecular biology information, NCBI creates public databases, conducts research in computational biology, develops software tools for analyzing genome data, and disseminates biomedical information - all for the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease."

     

    Neuropsychology Central: This site is devoted exclusively to the study of neuropsychology with primary emphasis on brain and behavior, and various other topics in the neurosciences.

     

    Neuroscience Information Framework: This website is a "dynamic inventory of Web-based neuroscience resources: data, materials, and tools accessible via any computer connected to the Internet. An initiative of the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research, the Neuroscience Information Framework advances neuroscience research by enabling discovery and access to public research data and tools worldwide through an open source, networked environment."

    Whole Brain Atlas: This atlas created Keith A. Johnson M.D. and J. Alex Becker, Ph.D. of Harvard medical school, provide neuroimaging for the normal brain, cerebrovascular disease, neoplastic disease, degenerative disease, and inflammatory or infectious disease.

    BioMed Central Physiology: An open access journal, BMC Physiology publishes original peer-reviewed research articles in cellular, tissue-level, organismal, functional, and developmental aspects of physiological processes and is indexed/tracked/covered by PubMed, MEDLINE, BIOSIS, CAS, EMBASE, Scopus, Zoological Record, CABI and Google Scholar.

     

    BrainMaps: This site is an interactive multiresolution next-generation brain atlas that is based on over 20 million megapixels of sub-micron resolution, annotated, scanned images of serial sections of both primate and non-primate brains and is integrated with a high-speed database for querying and retrieving data about brain structure and function. Created and maintained by Principal Investigator Edward G.     Clinical Trials: This site is a registry of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the United States and around the world. Provided is information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details.

     

    E-anatomy: Interactive Atlas of Human Anatomy.

     

    eMedicine: This site is an open access comprehensive medical textbook for all clinical fields which contains over 6,500 articles, and has over 10,000 contributors. Registration is free.

     

    eSkeletons Project: "The eSkeletons Project website is devoted to the study of human and primate comparative anatomy. It offers a unique set of digitized versions of skeletons of several primates in 2-D and 3-D full color, animations, and much supplemental information." Sposored by the University of Texas at Austin.

     

    Exploring Life's Origins: This website is part of a multimedia exhibit at the Museum of Science and includes animations and illustrations to help describe origins of life research and theories. Illustrations and animations may be downloaded in the Resources for Educators section, and have been provided by Janet Iwasa, a NSF Discovery Corps Postdoctoral Fellow, in collaboration with Jack Szostak and his laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital; and the Current Science and Technology team at the Museum of Science.

     

    Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals: A full text electronic version of Charles Darwin's entire book, "Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals".

     

    Genes and Disease: "Genes and Disease is a collection of articles that discuss genes and the diseases that they cause. These genetic disorders are organized by the parts of the body that they affect. As some diseases affect various body systems, they appear in more than one chapter."

     

    Howard Hughes Medical Institute: This site is provided by HHMI, a nonprofit medical research organization that "engages in the direct conduct of research, with the promotion of human knowledge in the field of the basic sciences and the effective application thereof for the benefit of mankind."

     

    Human Anatomy Online: The Intellimed International Corporation, a heatlh care organization, has created a visual study of human anatomy covering every system of the body. Each topic has animations, hundreds of graphics and thousands of descriptive links. This interactive site is an ideal reference for students or those who just want to know more about the medical descriptions used by doctors and nurses.

     

    Institute of Gerontology: "The mission of the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University is to conduct and disseminate research findings that will (1) increase knowledge about aging and related processes, (2) improve the practice of gerontology and geriatrics, and (3) influence the development and implementation of public policy. We are a multidisciplinary team of faculty who facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and participate in the culturally diverse urban environment in which we live. We emphasize the social and behavioral aspects of aging and health."

    Mendelian Inheritance in Man from the National Center for Biotechnology Information Genetic Disorders: "This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins."

     

    National Institute on Aging: Part of the NIH, the NIA's mission is to "support and conduct genetic, biological, clinical, behavioral, social, and economic research related to the aging process, foster the development of research and clinician scientists in aging, and communicate information about aging and advances in research on aging to the scientific community, health care providers, and the public."

     

    PhysiologyINFO: "This site was developed by leading researchers in conjunction with the American Physiological Society to educate the public and answer questions about physiology. The site provides the latest cutting edge research by working physiologists."

     

    Visible Human: "The Visible Human Project has generated over 18000 digitized sections of the human body. This introduction and tour uses images and animals from the project to teach key concepts in human anatomy."

     

    WebPath: Internet Pathology Laboratory: "The WebPath computer-aided instructional resource designed by Mercer University School of Medicine contains over 2000 images with text that illustrate gross and microscopic pathologic findings along with radiologic imaging associated with human disease conditions. For self-assessment and study there are over 2000 examination items. There are more than 20 tutorials in specific subject areas."

     

    Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics: "The scientific objective of the Centre is to explore all aspects of the genetic susceptibility of disease including the localisation of genes involved in common diseases, characterisation of the variants responsible for susceptibility, the understanding of how these DNA variants may contribute to risk of disease in the population and finally, how such genetic factors contribute biologically to a disease process."
