    "Scirus is the most comprehensive science-specific search engine available on the Internet. Driven by the latest search engine technology, it enables scientists, students and anyone searching for scientific information to chart and pinpoint data, locate university sites and find reports and articles quickly and easily. It was launched by Elsevier Science, the leading international publisher of scientific information."

     

    ABC ChemistRy: This site has developed a large index of online journals in chemistry. There are two major parts to the index: "Part A: Permanently available chemical journals" and "Part B. Trials and temporarily available chemical journals ".

     

    Chem1 Virtual Textbook: "This free, full-text, online text book exists to: provide a reference text and an alternative source of information for students; see how far one can push Web technology to produce something that is pedagogically useful; make available some of the ideas, illustrations, and methods of exposition that I have adopted during my 34 years of teaching, and which other teachers might possibly find interesting or useful."

     

    Chemical & Biochemical Databases: Jim Martindale has created a comprehensive database covering the latest in chemistry research.

     

    Chemie.DE Search Engine: "Hierarchical Index, Full Text Search, Metasearch for Chemicals and Literature"

     

    ChemFinder: Use this portal to access free and subscription scientific databases. You can retrieve information on chemical reactions and safety issues in Chemistry. Free registration is required to use ChemBioFinder.

     

    ChemIndustry: "ChemIndustry is the leading comprehensive directory and search engine for chemical and related industry professionals. Their databases of Web sites include more than 45,000 chemical industry related entities and contain the full text of millions of pages. ChemIndustry provides specialized search services for chemical names, jobs, market research and consultants."

     

    ChemInfo: "Chemical Information Sources is designed to help people find and learn how to use chemical information resources on the Internet and elsewhere. It is sponsored by Indiana University and most of the resources listed are based there, but you can elect to bump your search out onto the WWW."

     

    Chemistry Central: This site features chemistry-related articles published in Chemistry Central Journal, including BioMed Central journals and independent journals utilizing BioMed Central's open access publishing services. All original research articles published by, or in cooperation with, Chemistry Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication.

     

    Chemistry Resources: U.C. Berkeley College of Chemistry: Contains useful links for resources and safety issues. Searchable database with interactive color imagery from the National Institute of Health.

     

    ChemPort Connection: Use this index to search online chemistry journals. Use the Open Access Journals List link on the left to access free full-text chemistry journals. All other journals in this title index are subscription-only.

     

    Chemtutor: "Chemtutor begins with the fundamentals and gives expert help with the most difficult phases of understanding your first course in chemistry. Chemtutor is not necessarily a complete text for your course or a complete outline, but we are proud to offer some insightful help in the parts of primary chemistry that have been, from our experience, the hardest for students to grasp."

     

    ChemSpider: "This free chemistry search engine provides access to over 20 million unique chemical structures and their associated properties obtained from numerous open access and commercial databases, chemical vendors, journal publishers, and individual depositions."

     

    ChemWeb: "ChemWeb is a unique resource which combines a huge range of information for those in research chemistry, the chemicals industries and related disciplines." To use the Preprint Archive link, you must register for free acess to the online scientific journals in full text from these archives. This scientific site is excellent for research in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Catalysis, Electrochemistry, Fuel, Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Physical Chemistry and Polymer.

     

    CiteSeer: A research index to digitized scientific documents and other literature sponsored by The National Science Foundation and Nasa. Search capability provided by Google and hosted by Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology.

     

    Energy Science and Technology Virtual Library: "EnergyFiles is a virtual library of over 500 science and technology databases and Web sites. Sponsored, developed, and maintained by the Department of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), this site provides access to information, tools, and technologies relevant to the Department of Energy (DOE), with an emphasis on the physical sciences. This page contains an enhanced alphabetical listing of all resources available through the service. It can be used for locating a specific collection or resource or for browsing the entire list of resources. Organization of resources by subject area is available through the Subject Pathways."

     

    In Cites: "This website provides commentary and analysis on some of the most influential scientific discoveries of our time in the words of the scientists who made those discoveries. It also includes listings of highly cited and so-called hot papers across 22 broad fields, including chemistry."

     

    Khan Academy:The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere. Available are 1200+ videos on YouTube covering everything from basic arithmetic and algebra, to differential equations, physics, chemistry, biology and finance which have been recorded by Salman Khan, the 2009 Tech Award winner in Education. The entire video library list can be accessed from the home page.

     

    Mineralogy: "This mineral database contains 4,442 individual mineral species descriptions with links and a comprehensive image library."

     

    Molecular Expressions Galleria: "The Molecular Expressions Galleria is your gateway to our numerous collections of photographs taken through a microscope." The photographs are available online through various scientific photo galleries.

     

    Molecular Structures: A very extensive molecular database that provides 3D images to 100's of molecular structures, provided by MathMol.

     

    Organic Chemistry: WEB-sters Organic Chemistry categorizes organic chemistry educational resources and applications on a free site. The links include atomic and molecular orbitals, isomerism and sterochemistry, and spectroscopy. Professor Nick Turro from Columbia University and Ron Rusay from Diablo Valley College/Universitry of California at Berkeley developed the site as part of the "ChemConnections" program.

     

    Prescription Drug Information: First launched in 1996 as a source to find lists or directories of information in health and medicine, this Hardin MD site provides links to Drug Information and Resources. Created and maintained by the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences.

     

    Science Directory: Yahoo search engine directory to science and chemistry categories.

     

    Science Search: This specialized search engine focuses primarily on scientific issues. Use this search engine to find educational and research information available on the web.

     

    SciNet: A specialized directory and search engine covering only science subjects. It has specific subject categories in agriculture, astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, environment, math, medicine, physics, social science, technology, and more. Also provided are links to other science specific search engines.

     

    Specialized Information Services: "The Specialized Information Services (SIS) Division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) is responsible for information resources and services in toxicology, environmental health, chemistry, HIV/AIDS, and specialized topics in minority health."

     

    WebRef: "Glossary of chemical terms and definitions of terminology related to the science of chemistry."

     

    WWW Virtual Library: Chemistry: "An index of over 8,075 chemistry resources on the web. This site is the copyright of The University of Liverpool, Department of Chemistry."

     

    Yale University Science Libraries: Selected Chemistry web resources of numerous reference sources offering links and pointers to numerical and factual data.

    Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table: "This 'online textbook' is designed to provide a thorough, in-depth treatment of this topic at the first-year college or advanced-HS levels, with a special focus on the underlying concepts."

     

    ChemCollective: "The Chemistry Collective is a collection of virtual labs, scenario-based learning activities, and concepts tests. It is organized by a group of faculty and staff at Carnegie Mellon University for college and high school teachers who are interested in using, assessing, and/or creating engaging online activities for chemistry education."

     

    Chemical Education, Purdue University: General Chemistry course help, including a glossary, lecture demonstrations, problem solving and test banks.

     

    Chemical Elements: An Online Interactive Periodical Table of the Elements.

     

    ChemTube3D: "Developed by Nick Greeves and Alex Lawrenson (both, Univ. of Liverpool), ChemTube3D provides "interactive 3D animations for some of the most important organic reactions covered during an undergraduate chemistry degree" program."

     

    Dynamic Period Table: A "dynamic", quick-loading , and interactive periodic table. Mouse-over elements, periods, groups, families, phases, or other categories and observe the table become more specified to your particular focus. Raise the temperature of the entire table to see the relative effects, or click on virtually anything on the table or around it to get even more detailed information.

     

    Jena Library of Biological Macromolecules: "The Jena Library of Biological Macromolecules (JenaLib) is aimed at a better dissemination of information on three-dimensional biopolymer structures with an emphasis on visualization and analysis, providing access to all structure entries deposited at the Protein Data Bank (PDB) or at the Nucleic Acid Database (NDB)."

     

    Linus Pauling and the Race for DNA: "Utilizing over 800 scanned documents, photographs, audio clips and video excerpts, this website narrates the breathless details of the pursuit of the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA. Scattered throughout the project are images of a number of very important and extremely rare items, including a wealth of primary sources, i.e. manuscripts, photographs, published papers, audio-visual snippets and more."

     

    MathMol Library: A very extensive molecular database that provides 3D images to 100's of molecular structures.

     

    Molecule of the Month: "Each month a new molecule will be added to the list on this page. The links will take you to a page at one of the Web sites at a University Chemistry Department or commercial site in the UK, the US, or anywhere in the world, where useful (and hopefully entertaining!), information can be found about a particularly interesting molecule."

     

    National Institute of Standards and Technology Chemistry WebBook: An NIST chemistry database with search engine capability to locate species of chemical compounds from formulas, their names, or by CAS registry number, author, structure, and physical properties. Also available is an entire list of chemical species and 3D models of select compounds for download.

     

    Perspectives in Medicinal Chemistry: "An open access, peer reviewed electronic journal that covers drug design in the form of commentaries and reviews which do not require disclosure of proprietary information." These journals are accessible through PDF download only.

     

    Research and Documentation Online: Online version of "Research and Documentation in the Electronic Age" by Diana Hacker. It contains research guides to Humanities, Social Sciences, History, and Sciences.
