Mathematics Prerequisite and assessment process:
Every student must show proof of meeting prerequisite for the course or take assessment to be placed into the course. It is not required that you show transcripts to your instructor, but it is an option
Document with equivalent courses is posted on web at www.flc.losrios.edu/~flcmath.
If a student does not wish to show transcripts to their instructor, please turn in transcripts to
the Mathematics Department Chair, if the Mathematics Department Chair is your instructor;
please turn in transcripts to Joy Fuson.
If a student wishes to shows transcripts to instructor:
a. If class is on the list and considered equivalent then the student has fulfilled pre-requisite.
b. If class is on the list and not considered equivalent then student must take the
assessment exam to place into course.
c. If class is not on the list, the student is informed to give copy of transcripts and syllabus
of class they are enrolled/enrolling in to Mathematics department chair, using the form
below, course description will be looked at by at least 2 people from math department,
within two business days of receipt of transcripts, equivalence will be determined and
the instructor and student will be notified, and determination of course will be put on
the S-drive.
Note: Highly recommended if course work not completed in last 2years student should take assessment exam
Assessment test(s):
d. Places into class, show instructor results, instructor adds student to class (depending
on cap) or does not withdraw student from the class.
e. Student does not place into class, student then is either withdrawn, or not allowed to
add class.
f. Assessment taken at another college places student into a course we have deemed
equivalent, proof of pre-requisite is considered met.
